My name is Corinne McAuley and I am a bead artist.
I started working with beads in 2001. I was looking for a creative way to express myself so; I started with a jewelry class at a local bead store in San Jose, CA. Once I started working with the beads and noticed all of the colors and styles available I was hooked.
I had made jewelry for all my family and then some, I decided to try other stitches. In doing so, I taught myself how to work with peyote stitch. I found that the freedom of color and subject were unlimited working with this stitch.
The miniature furniture came along after the jewelry and during my experimentation with tapestries. I started with large tapestries and needed something to give me a change of pace before I would go on to the next tapestry. The miniatures must have been my practice for the bird houses as they can get very intricate and fit the bill for the change I needed.
A couple years back I had my first grandchild and decided to make a special bird house for him. The tradition has continued with each baby that comes along. As each child is unique, so is the piece I have created for them. I just continued to make bird houses as the response that I got from people was encouraging.
I am constantly creating new pieces and enjoy using materials that are unusual to correspond with beads. This is my passion!

This Bird House was created for Eve’s Place Charity Auction. Eve’s Place supports battered women.
